Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
Yansio is a browser extension for English writing assistance on web pages. It works on editable web surfaces such as textareas, supported text-like inputs, and contenteditable editors. The extension only processes text when the user explicitly triggers rewriting, correction, or translation.
What data may be processed
- Selected text.
- Nearby editor context required to preserve tone and intent.
- Current page URL and page title inside extracted context metadata.
- User-entered model configuration, including API endpoint and API key.
- Local usage statistics such as token counts and request duration.
How the data is used
- Selected text and necessary context are sent to the AI provider configured by the user in order to return a rewrite, correction, or translation result.
- API keys are stored locally in browser extension storage so the user does not need to re-enter them.
- Token counts and timing data are stored locally for statistics.
- Call history is disabled by default. If the user turns off privacy mode, recent request input, output, and context may be stored locally for history display.
Data sharing
- User text is transmitted only to the model provider selected and configured by the user.
- The extension developer does not currently route requests through a separate developer-owned relay server.
- Data is not sold.
Local storage
- Model configurations.
- Active model selection.
- Domain rules.
- Privacy mode preference.
- Token usage statistics.
- Optional call history if the user turns off privacy mode.
User controls
- Choose which model provider to use.
- Configure or remove stored API keys.
- Control which sites and site rules are active.
- Keep privacy mode enabled so new call history is not stored.
- Clear locally stored history.
- Export or import local configuration backups.
